New Qualification Offers Alternative To Existing Courses
National law firm Irwin Mitchell has joined forces with the Institute of Recruiters (IOR) to deliver an innovative new course designed for individuals who are interested in starting or developing a career in HR.
The IOR’s new Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Human Resource Practice, offers blended learning through the IOR’s new online learning centre and incorporates seven face-to-face ‘master-classes’ each lasting one day.
Irwin Mitchell’s employment lawyers will deliver a number of the modules and host the full course across seven UK locations in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, and Sheffield.
The first course will take place at Irwin Mitchell’s offices in Manchester and will start on 18 August with the first face to face session starting on 16 September 2014.
Those that complete the seven month course will gain a professional internationally recognised HR qualification which is regulated by OfQual.
Expert Opinion
This qualification is ideal for those who are starting a career in HR as well as people who are looking to take a more active role in their organisation’s human resource function.
“We are finding that more and more managers within organisations are being asked to carry out basic HR duties as part of their day-to-day role. This course tackles this growing trend and provides these people with the skills and understanding that they require.
“Together with the IOR, we have mapped out the role of an HR Assistant and believe that this course provides everything they need to be ‘work ready’. It is also a practical refresher for anyone who performs HR duties at this level without any recognised qualification, particularly as it offers advice on the latest employment legislation.
“We are delighted to announce this new partnership with the IOR and look forward to working with them in the future.”

Azmat Mohammed, the IOR’s Director General, said: “Business has moved in the last decade and training needs to move with it. The IOR qualifications are, above all, practical. Learners are able to adopt new skills from the start, right the way through their qualification.”
Business entrepreneur James Caan, founder and CEO of investment group Hamilton Bradshaw, says the new IOR HR qualification offers a refreshing change to courses which have remained static for decades. He says, “If you’re looking for a HR role to provide a substantial return on investment, you have to get the recruitment aspect spot on. Businesses will only grow if they have talented and ambitious people constantly coming on board.”
“This new HR Qualification will equip professionals in recruiting, retaining and supporting staff, and I fully support the IOR in bringing this qualification to the market.”
