Legal Specialists Instructed By Holidaymakers Affected By Outbreak
Illness lawyers representing victims of outbreaks in the UK and abroad have now been instructed to act for people affected by an outbreak of illness at the River Dart Country Park near Ashburton in Devon.
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist team have now heard first-hand from victims of the problems which have been reportedly linked to the holiday park. The holiday park re-opened today (August 18th) after it closed temporarily on 13 August 2014 to allow an investigation into the cause of the outbreak to be undertaken.
It is believed that more than 90 people have been affected by the sickness issues, with experts from Public Health England revealing that norovirus has so far been confirmed in two of the cases linked to the site.
Managers at the park have collaborated with PHE and South Hams District Council’s environmental health experts on investigations into the outbreak.
Expert Opinion
It is very worrying to hear reports such as this emerge, particularly at a time when many families will be looking forward to enjoying relaxing breaks together at holiday parks and resorts in the UK and further afield.
"We have now heard first-hand accounts from people who stayed at the site and who were still at the site when the park was closed.
"Our work helping victims of illness to gain justice and answers regarding what they have faced means we understand the impact such problems can have, from general issues such as time off work or diet issues to longer-term health implications.
"With so many people affected by this outbreak, it is clear there will be many who will be frustrated by what has happened. We would be keen to hear from anyone else affected by these issues, as their insight may aid our inquiries." Amandeep Dhillon - Partner
