Appeal For Witnesses Over Two Crashes
Police have called for witnesses to come forward following two fatal road traffic collisions in the Highlands over the weekend.
Northern Constabulary has appealed for help in relation to the incidents on the A87 on Skye and the A862 at Beauly on Saturday (June 11th).
The first on the A87 involved a 21-year-old biker who suffered fatal injuries in a collision with a car in the evening, while the second near Beauly involved a 77-year-old woman who died when her car collided with another vehicle.
Both roads were closed following the incidents.
Elaine Russell, a road traffic collisions specialist at Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office, said every effort must be made to discover how both of the crashes came to occur.
She said: “There are a number of questions that remain over both of these incidents and I urge the police to work quickly and thoroughly to determine how the collisions happened, as well as whether they could have been prevented.
“Our work representing the families of those seriously injured and killed on the roads has shown just how devastating incidents of this kind can be on a huge number of people.
“For the sake of all of friends and family of the two victims in these collisions, it is vital that answers are provided as to what caused each incident and whether lessons can be learnt that could keep people protected from harm in the future.”
