Young Lawyer Appointed General Director of JCI Manchester
A young lawyer from leading firm Irwin Mitchell has a busy year ahead of her as she steps up to take the role of General Director of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manchester.
Medical negligence lawyer at Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office, Leena Savjani, 28, was appointed to the role in January, having been an active member of JCI Manchester - a voluntary personal development organisation offering development opportunities to young professionals and entrepreneurs - since June last year.
Leena’s appointment will see her play a leading role in the planning of JCI Manchester events including a recruitment drive for new members to be held at the Mint hotel on Thursday March 17th 2010 (6pm – 9pm) as well fundraising for its chosen charity of the year, The Royal Manchester Children’s hospital.
On her appointment, Leena said: “I’ve really enjoyed being involved with the Manchester JCI so far; it’s given me a real flavour of how valuable its work is, both in terms of helping people to build personal and professional skills and by contributing toward such worthwhile causes like The Royal Manchester Children’s hospital.
“I’m delighted to have been offered the role of General Director, it’s the perfect choice for me as it will enable me to get involved in all the different aspects of the JCI’s work – I can’t wait to get started.”
JCI Manchester is a voluntary personal development organisation for young professionals and entrepreneurs. It is a local organisation that is part of a much larger dynamic global network called Junior Chamber International (JCI), a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs with over 250,000 active members in over 100 countries.
The list of millions of alumni who obtained their informal education through JCI is impressive and includes high profile leaders such as John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Kofi Annan, Jacques Chirac, and over 50% of the current Japanese government.
Irwin Mitchell has a long history of supporting JCI, with many of its senior Partners having active involvement with the organisation.
