Leading Newcastle Law Firm Strengthens Care and Education Unit
Leading North East personal injury law firm Irwin Mitchell has further strengthened its Newcastle team with the appointment of Susan McKendry.
Susan joins Irwin Mitchell as an associate solicitor and will work in a pivotal role in Irwin Mitchells Care, Education and Public Law team, working on behalf of vulnerable individuals to help ensure the Government and other public bodies are meeting their obligations.
The team helps people to mount challenges against public organisations that are failing to fulfil their statutory duties in areas such as health care provision, prison management or environmental responsibilities.
Prior to joining Irwin Mitchell Susan worked for the Court of Appeal, which is part of The High Court of Justice, so she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area of law.
Commenting on her appointment Susan said: I am extremely excited to join such a dynamic team. There is a need for a stronger presence of care and education law and Court of Protection advice in the region and I was very impressed by Irwin Mitchells team and the work it has undertaken so far.
I was also attracted to Irwin Mitchell due to the firms excellent reputation and I believe that the firm is a leading force in the North East and the UK.
John Davis, Regional Managing partner at Irwin Mitchell said: This is a key appointment for Irwin Mitchell as although this area of law is a growing area, very few law firms in the UK currently specialise in this field.
He added: We are delighted to welcome Susan to the Irwin Mitchell team. Susan is an excellent solicitor with a wealth of experience and will be invaluable to the firm.
