Irwin Mitchell's Armed Forces personal injury team were guests at RAF Wittering in January as part of the SSAFA (Soldier, Sailors Airmen and Families Association) Annual Welfare Volunteer Awards launch.
The 2007 awards are being sponsored by Irwin Mitchell and AIG who underwrite the PAX Personal Accident Insurance scheme which has over 54,000 Armed Forces members. IM are the appointed legal representatives under the PAX scheme which also provides the benefit of Legal Expenses Insurance for it's members who wish to pursue a claim for compensation having been injured on or off duty. Irwin Mitchell's Armed Forces team specialises in personal injury advice to injured members of the Armed Forces and works closely with a number of the military welfare branches and charities to ensure that Service personnel get the right welfare support and advice.
SSAFA have over 53 welfare volunteer branches in the UK and around the world supporting members of the British Armed Forces and their families. Their volunteers deal with a wide range of problems and issues from helping injured service personnel to supporting local initiatives that benefit the serving military community. The awards are a chance for the service community to show their appreciation to volunteers who have shown exceptional dedication or innovation in their duties and nominations can be made by anyone. The winning recipients will be presented with trophies by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent at a summer ceremony and be awarded £500 towards their work.
