Biography
I started working in Costs in September 2021, following my LPC. Prior to that, I studied Law and European Law at University of Nottingham, and Medical and Sports Law at Charles University in Prague in the Czech Republic.
I am a first-generation immigrant from Poland, having moved here to study in 2016. I am bilingual and have a background in legal and commercial translations.
At Irwin Mitchell I specialise in Budgeting and am in the process of qualifying as a Costs Lawyer. I most enjoy cases with multi-national elements.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I love the work-life balance that Irwin Mitchell promotes and enables their staff to have.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The detective like nature of costs law, would it be drafting or negotiating. It keeps me interested and is never the same, it always "depends". I love costs law for being relatively young and always evolving.
What inspired you to get into law?
There was a Polish TV show in the mid 2000s which followed the life of a young lawyer in Warsaw helping innocent people get the justice they deserve. I honestly think this was the first time I thought about becoming a lawyer and the rest is history. Thank you, "Magda M"!
What do you do away from the office?
I am a proud mum of a Cat (Lizzy) and 2 Gerbils (Itchy and Scratchy) who keep me busy every day.
My biggest hobby is history. I have a full bookshelf of niche books I find in various charity shops, and not enough time to read them all.
I also enjoy playing sports to satisfy my competitive nature. Currently I am learning how to play badminton.
