I’m a Solicitor in the Asbestos team, based in our Bristol office. I help people and their families make compensation claims after they’ve been diagnosed with asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer, asbestosis, or diffuse pleural thickening. I’ve specialised in this area since qualifying in 2010.

I have experience in every aspect of the claims process, from first instruction right through to trial. I’ve built strong working relationships with solicitors, barristers and a range of experts in the field to ensure I can get the best possible outcome for my clients. I strive to provide them with a professional and efficient legal service, whilst also being approachable and caring at what is an incredibly difficult time in their lives.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

I wanted a career that was both challenging and rewarding whilst also helping people. A career in law seemed to tick these boxes.

I studied law at university and never looked back. After graduating, I studied the Legal Practice Course and completed a Training Contract, qualifying in 2010.

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

The best thing about my job is being able to make the lives of my clients and their families that little bit easier. A successful outcome for them means they don’t have to worry about money and can focus instead on their health and enjoying time with their loved ones.

Working closely with them throughout the length of their claim, I also see how important it is for them to know that they’ve achieved justice.

What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?

Irwin Mitchell’s culture is all about getting the best out of its people by providing the support, opportunities and facilities needed to develop both personally and professionally.

We’re all encouraged to share knowledge and experiences, which is especially important in a constantly-evolving area like asbestos law. Our knowledge-sharing practice means clients can be confident their claims will always be supported by expertise in the most up-to-date legal developments and principles, ensuring they get the best result possible.

What Do You Do Away From The Office?

I'm always busy finding new and fun things to do with my two young children – this often involves travelling around the country finding wildlife parks and beaches! When not in “Mummy” mode, I love a spot of retail therapy, going to the theatre, eating out and spending a relaxing day at a spa with family or friends.

Client Testimonials

"Second to none. I used Irwin Mitchell to pursue a claim on behalf of my late husband. I was visited several times at my home, which made the process very easy. I dealt mainly with Laura Wilkinson, who like everyone I dealt with was sympathetic, professional and helped every step of the way. Laura was extremely patient and understanding and was always available at the end of the telephone." – Client

"Everybody that I've been in contact with during this difficult time in my life has been kind, caring and compassionate. Laura and Alex are both a credit to the company ... both have been real professionals with kindness and understanding" – Nick Grove

Family Of Somerset School Science Lab Technician Appeal For Help Regarding Her Asbestos Death

“While many cases tend to relate to industrial environments, we are involved in a growing number linked to asbestos exposure in other settings such as hospitals, council buildings and schools. “Through our investigations we understand that Ann worked with products containing asbestos during her time as a school lab technician, but we would now be keen for more information regarding further detail about her exposure to asbestos dust. “This appeal comes at a time when the issue of school science equipment containing asbestos has been in the spotlight, with the Health and Safety Executive confirming last year that two companies had sold gauze mats which included the material for a number of years. “We would be hugely grateful if anyone who may have worked alongside Ann or may have been a pupil at Wells Cathedral School could come forward and provide information regarding the use of asbestos based equipment within the labs.”
