Biography
I'm a solicitor in the Public Law & Human Rights department in Southampton. I joined the firm in February 2021 shortly after qualifying. I trained in Cardiff, Wales and therefore have experience with both English and Welsh legislation.
I specialise in Deprivation of Liberty and health and welfare cases in the Court of Protection. I also advise on care packages and challenging NHS Continuing Healthcare funding decisions and reduction of care
I am also experienced in Judicial Review proceedings around various aspects of law including cases against Ofsted, and the Intergrated Care Board.
Lastly, I am able to advise in Education around SEN education plans (EHCP/IDP) and appeals to the Tribunal.
What inspired you to get into law?
I studied Criminology in University and then decided I wanted to help people with legal issues. Public law is a very interesting area of law, and I can help people with a wide range of issues. I help vulnerable people and those are unable to make decisions themselves to ensure they have the best possible life.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I provide support to the most vulnerable of people in society and this is extremely rewarding.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell respects and cares for their staff. I also like that my work is varied and interesting and I have the chance to develop.
What do you do away from the office?
When I have some spare time, I like to be in the wilderness and photograph nature, especially birds. I also like to cook, knit and read as well as going for walks with my cat.
