Biography
I am an Associate Chartered Legal Executive at Irwin Mitchell based in the Chichester office but also visit the Southampton office. I have worked in Private Client for more years than I care to remember (over 35 years) starting as an office junior and eventually qualifying in 2018! So, I have many years experience and at different levels.
I am experienced in the preparation of Powers of Attorney, applications to the Court of Protection, issues of mental capacity, undue influence, the financial aspect of long-term care planning and administering the financial affairs of the elderly and vulnerable.
I sometimes meet clients in the office, their home or Care/Nursing Home to discuss the legal aspects relating to their deteriorating health, mental capacity or simply keeping them updated on the administration of their financial affairs.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell is a large national firm, covering pretty much every area of law, but the website says "We are experts that care" and that is absolutely true. The Partners care about their staff and, in turn we care about our clients. We really have the "human touch".
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I have worked in both small and large firms over the years, for the most part dealing with Wills, Probate and Powers of Attorney. Since joining Irwin Mitchell in 2018, I have been able to specialise in helping elderly and vulnerable people and their families by trying to alleviate their emotional worry and stress regarding financial affairs or health and care needs.
What inspired you to get into law?
As corny as it sounds, I love to help people and was drawn to the elderly, having had elderly parents and relatives. It isn't how it looks on the TV but it can be very rewarding!
What do you do away from the office?
I enjoy going to the gym and keeping fit because I also enjoy eating and drinking! I enjoy spending time with my family and also having lovely holidays.
