Lee Flatt Was Attacked By Two American Pit Bulls

A 35-year-old man was treated in hospital and could have to undergo plastic surgery on his arm after he was savagely attacked by two American Pit Bulls while he walked down a street in Bradford.

Lee Flatt was walking to work when the two dogs pounced on him, dragging him to the floor and repeatedly biting him. He suffered serious injuries to his arm, as well as cuts to his face, back and chest.

Local residents used wheelie bins and sticks to distract the dogs, enabling Mr Flatt to free himself from his shredded jacket and get away from the animals.

He was treated at the scene in the Buttershaw area of the city once the dogs had been captured by specialist police officers, before being taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for further treatment. 

Speaking about the attack, Mr Flatt said: “I was screaming for help. I thought my life was over. The dogs had me in their mouths, they were biting me all over then someone was there ramming a wheelie bin at them. It got one of them off for me just long enough for me to get out of my jacket even though the other dog still had it in its teeth.”

Sergeant Richard Sheard, from Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team, confirmed the dogs were American Pit Bulls - a banned breed in the UK – and that they have now been taken away from the area, along with a Red Nosed Pit Bull.
