At 8:50pm on 18 May 2011 Sol Líneas Aéreas Flight 5428 requested to descend altitude after experiencing icing during the final leg of a domestic flight to Comodoro Rivadavia from Córdoba via Mendoza and Neuquén.  It is believed that the Saab 340A aircraft crashed shortly afterwards between Los Menucos and Prahuaniyeu after eye witnesses reported seeing the plane flying incredibly low and hearing an explosion.  All 19 passengers and three crew onboard the flight perished in the crash.
