Our Prices
We understand that having to pay for a solicitor, especially when you're going through a life changing event, isn't easy.
We always aim to be transparent with our fees and will aim to give you an idea of cost when we find out more about your case.
Our fees can vary depending on factors such as complexity of the case, whether we need to go to court, and external costs like expert witnesses.
We can offer a range of funding options including:
- Private funding - you pay your own legal fees
- Legal expense insurance - some home insurance or car insurance policies come with legal expense insurance which can pay for any legal fees. It’s worth checking to see if you’re covered as a policyholder
- No win no fee - also known as conditional fee agreement or success-related fee. This is where you take out insurance against losing your case. If we win, costs are recovered from your opponent. If we lose the insurance policy will pay your legal fees
- Legal Aid - for some types of cases such as human rights, public law and some birth injuries, we are able to accept legal aid cases
- Charity support - You can set up a crowdfunding campaign where your friends and family can contribute money toward your case. This is often used in public law campaigns to raise funds more widely or reach out to individuals affected by similar circumstances
- Fixed fee - there are some types of cases where we can define the cost before we begin work. If we find the case needs more time or effort, then we will take on the additional costs or agree on next steps and any additional increases
- "Bank-of-hours" arrangements, where you buy blocks of our time in advance. This can help you with cost certainty and knowing what hourly rate you are buying hours at.
A list of some of our typical costs, where we are able to define those easily, are listed below. Please note that all our prices unless stated otherwise exclude VAT which is charged at the standard rate of 20%.
Our normal basis of charging is hourly rate. Our rates vary according to the applicable level of experience of the team member who carries out the work. All work is carried out at the appropriate level in order to ensure a balance is struck between mitigating professional costs and efficiently progressing the matter. We use UK Government guidelines, and The SRA or Law Society of Scotland guidance, when determining our hourly rates. These rates are usually reviewed each year.
Please get in touch with us to discuss more specific costs which will be dependent on your case, we aim to define costs as early as possible and always be as transparent with our pricing as possible.
