Information for Parents & Teachers
We’re passionate about bringing the right people into our business. We ensure that we recruit new colleagues from each of the areas and communities that we serve, which means apprenticeships are a key driver for sourcing great talent. They form the foundation of very rewarding and enjoyable careers with us.

Apprenticeships at Irwin Mitchell
Apprenticeships continue to be a great source of diverse talent in our local areas. We’ve seen significant growth in our apprenticeship proposition, and we've started over 250 apprentices over the last 9 years across 28 different apprenticeship programmes.
Like university, apprenticeships aren’t for everyone. But our experience shows that information about apprenticeships is often scarce, and many school leavers know very little about them. There are lots of misconceptions about what apprenticeships are and how they work.
To address these, we’ve made a commitment to help promote apprenticeships this year by explaining what they’re about and how they work for us. This information will be useful for parents, guardians and those who influence school leavers in the future.
Hear from Charlise, and her mum Janet, talk about her experience in deciding to explore an apprenticeship instead of going to university.
Charlise started with us as an Apprentice Paralegal in 2021 and has since moved onto our Solicitor Apprentice programme. This means she'll become a qualified Solicitor with the firm without having gone through the usual university and training contract route. This will allow her to earn and learn at the same time with no university debt.
