Tier 2 Minister of Religion

The Tier 2 (T2) Minister of Religion is a visa that allows individuals to fill leading roles within faith-based organisations in the UK.

Key requirements and considerations

Certificate of Sponsorship

Applicants must have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) assigned by an organisation authorised to sponsor individuals under the T2 Minister of Religion route. The CoS must include a number of details such as the duties, salary, working hours and work dates.

Genuineness

The applicant must genuinely intend, and be able, to undertake the role described in the CoS.

Financial Requirements

The applicant must meet the financial requirements to support themselves during their stay. The sponsoring organisation can also certify maintenance for the applicant.

English Language Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate they are proficient in reading, writing, speaking and listening to the required level, unless exempt from this requirement.

Duration

This visa can be granted for a maximum duration of 3 years and 1 month, however applicants can apply to renew this visa provided the relevant requirements are met.

Indefinite Leave to Remain

Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, this route leads to Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, i.e., permanent settlement.

Dependents

A partner and/or children under 18 can apply to join the main applicant on this route, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
