Joint Investigation Launched With Police
The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation with South Yorkshire Police after a man was killed in an industrial accident at a factory in Sheffield.
According to the BBC, a 47-year-old worker was injured while moving some form of metal products at a site owned by ATI Allvac on Carlisle Street, but died shortly after being taken to hospital.
Few other details have yet been released about the incident.
David Urpeth, the national head of workplace injuries at Irwin Mitchell who is based in the firm’s Sheffield office, said it was vital that authorities work quickly to discover how the incident came to occur.
He said: “Very few details have been released about what happened in this terrible work accident, but it is clear that investigators need to thoroughly consider how the man came to suffer the initial injuries in the work environment.
“Health and safety must always be a priority for employers and answers are needed as to whether this incident could have been avoided.
“We also hope that any lessons will be learnt which will ensure no one else is hurt in a similar manner.”
