Immigration White Paper - Irwin Mitchell's experts examine the proposals in detail
On 12 May 2025, the Home Office published a White Paper outlining proposed changes to the UK immigration system.
Irwin Mitchell's Immigration team is producing a series of daily articles in response to these proposed changes and reforms.
Here's a list of what has been produced by the team so far.
PART 1 - This article focuses on two proposals in particular: the increase in the required skill level for Skilled Worker roles and the abolition of the Immigration Salary List.
PART 2 - In this article the team analyse look at the proposed increase to the Immigration Skills Charge, and how it can potentially impact the sponsorship process.
PART 3 - In this article the team consider the drivers behind the introduction of the Care Worker visa in 2022, the landscape of the Care Worker visa over the last year. It also looks at the proposed changes and the potential impact upon the adult social care industry.
PART 4 - This article focuses on the proposed increases in the English language requirements for Skilled Workers, their dependants and other immigration routes.
