Navigating the challenges of the current economic climate – key takeaways

On Monday 5 December 2022, we hosted our free webinar ‘Helping Your Business Be Resilient to Risk During the Current Economic Climate’ to 160 delegates.

It’s a difficult time for businesses. They’re facing escalating costs, pressures in their supply chains, and increased risks of debtors defaulting on payments. Staff, who are feeling their own personal financial pressures, are also looking for more from their employers and are prepared to move if they don’t get what they require.

Specialists from our employment, intellectual property, commercial dispute resolution, and data protection teams shared practical insights about how business owners, managing directors, finance directors and HR professionals can take steps to help their business remain resilient in the current economic climate.

Some topics we discussed included:

  • Why protecting and optimising your brand should be a priority
  • How to build a resilience strategy to retain valuable talent and drive high performance
  • Some key considerations for forming robust contracts
  • How to avoid legal disputes arising.

The webinar concluded with a panel discussion and a look to issues on the horizon which businesses need to consider now.

It's a difficult time for business. Staff are demanding higher wages to support the cost-of-living crisis, but this is not an easy answer when this cannot be passed on to consumers and suppliers, with their costs increasing too.

"We held this event to share some insights on what key steps can be taken to navigate the current challenges and ensure businesses remain resilient in these times.

"We talked about renegotiating contracts, knowing what issues to watch out for in commercial arrangements, having confidence to nip potential disputes in the bud quickly and avoid cost escalation, as well as the importance of having a resilient strategy for your people needs and wider market brand. A packed and informative agenda reflecting what we expect to be a busy year for business in 2023.”
