“The first time I noticed I was different was in primary school. When I was around 8, I noticed other children were writing, cutting things out and sticking things and I couldn’t quite keep up”. 

Eva doesn’t let anything stop her. Because of the help her family provides her and the legal support from us, Eva has things put in place now to help her with her daily tasks.   

While Eva has always valued her independence and moving forward, she’s no longer afraid to ask for help if she needs it and is now able to do things she thought she never would be able to do. Her difficult experience at school encouraged her to write her very own autobiography and she has spent a lot of her time giving motivational talks at local schools to raise awareness of disabilities and being kind.

“It was hard for me to accept I needed support, but I put my pride to the side, which is hard for a 19/20-year-old to do.” 

Liam’s rebuilt his life after an accident at work left him with a severe brain injury. With specialist legal advice, a comprehensive rehabilitation package, and unwavering support from his family, he’s progressed from setting small goals to achieving big goals. He’s now looking forward to an independent future.

“I was for so long with someone who was my soulmate. Now I’m doing it on my own. I’m still learning about who I am by myself. It’s a really hard job, but you’ve got to move forward to find out who you are.”

After losing her husband and sustaining serious injuries in a road crash, Ismena shares her journey. She talks about the importance of expert support and friendship in finding the strength to look to the future. 

“Being an amputee’s not easy, but it can also be a completely new way of life you never imagined.” 

After a below-the-knee amputation following an accident at work, Richard’s found the camaraderie, physical exertion, and challenge of sport to be an important part of his recovery.

“Being told that you’ll never walk again is a really hard pill to swallow. No one expects to have a spinal cord injury. But it can happen to anybody.” 

After a road traffic collision in 2018, Shauna’s shown incredible resilience and determination to rebuild her life, and she doesn’t let her injuries stop her from being the best mum to her two children.

For an active man who always looks ahead to the next challenge, being diagnosed with mesothelioma and told he had three to nine months to live was a lot to take in. 

“I was in no man’s land” says Ron, who found himself needing a wheelchair because he was so weak. “I never thought I’d run again.”
