You can no longer apply for a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa, but you can apply to extend an existing visa before 5 April 2023. Our Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa lawyers can advise on how to qualify for an extension and how to prepare your application.
The Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa allowed entrepreneurs from outside the UK to come and set up a business here. If you want to come to the UK to start a business, you’ll now need to apply for an Innovator visa. In some cases, you may be able to apply for a Start-up visa depending on the nature of your business.
We’re a team of experienced immigration experts that can handle complex visa issues for you and your family. We’ll support you from beginning to end of your application and answer any questions you have along the way. We also have expert employment, corporate and property solicitors who can give you industry-specific advice to help your business grow in the UK.

When Are Entrepreneur Visas Valid Until?
If you currently have an Entrepreneur visa, you must apply to extend it by 5 April 2023. Your extension will last for two years. If you want to stay in the UK permanently, you can then apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain before 5 July 2027.
Our team can help you through your application to extend your visa. We’ll tell you what documents you need and how to gather them. We’ll then put your application together in a format the Home Office prefers to give your application every chance of success.
If the Home Office unfairly rejects your application, we can challenge their decision at an administrative review. We’ll work efficiently to make sure you don’t have any unnecessary delays so your business can continue to run as normal.
Once you’ve got your extension, we can also put a plan in place to make sure you’re on track to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
What Do I Need To Do To Extend My Entrepreneur Visa?
Your first Entrepreneur visa is usually valid for three years and four months. To apply for an extension, you’ll need to meet certain requirements in the first three years of living in the UK and running your business. These include:
- Investing £200,000 into one or more UK businesses
- Registering as a director of a UK company or as self-employed within six months of getting your first Entrepreneur visa
- Working as a director, as self-employed or a member of a partnership three months before you apply to extend
- Employing at least two full-time employees – they must each have worked for you for 12 months or longer when you apply to extend
- Be able to support yourself and any dependants.
Making the right investments is a big part of an Entrepreneur visa. We can make sure your investment meets the Home Office’s requirements. We’ll assess your situation in detail, and help you adjust any investments so that you can extend your visa without any issues.
If you don’t meet the requirements to extend, we can look at switching your visa to something more suitable. This could include a Tier 1 Investor visa or a Tier 2 Work visa. We’ll give you practical advice every step of the way and make sure that switching your visa is as hassle free as possible.
