What is the Harrods Redress scheme?
On March 31st, 2025, Harrods legal representatives announced a Harrods Redress scheme that would provide a set amount of compensation to survivors of abuse by Mohamed Fayed.
To be eligible for the scheme you must be able to prove, on the balance of probabilities, that:
- You were subjected to sexual assault/wrongful testing
- Harrods is vicariously liable for the sexual assault/wrongful testing.
We can help you determine your eligibility from the scheme, and we encourage you to get in touch even if you have no documentary evidence confirming you were employed by Harrods.
It’s also important to note that you don’t have to have been formally employed by Harrods to be able to make an application to the scheme.
There are several pathways available for making a claim using the Harrods Redress scheme. Our expert solicitors can help you understand which pathway is best for you.
Depending on which pathway you choose, you can apply for the following compensation:
- General damages of up to £200,000
- Aggravated damages of up to £25,000
- Wrongful testing fixed payment(s) of up to £10,000
- Treatment costs
- Work impact payment of up to £150,000.
To date, the scheme has helped people claim higher compensation amounts compared with civil litigation. This is because:
- General damages are assessed in line with Judicial College Guidelines, just as they would be in litigation.
- Survivors keep 100% of their damages, with no deduction for success fees or insurance premiums - contrasting with civil claims, where deductions of up to 25% of past losses and general damages are common, in addition to the cost of any After The Event Insurance.
- No discounts required for litigation risks. Once you are deemed eligible for the scheme, your lawyers are not advising you to accept 40% less based on the fact that you have a 40% chance of losing the case.
To use the scheme, you’ll need to apply before the March 31, 2026. The deadline might be extended, but to make sure you’re eligible, it’s best to apply well before.
Our abuse solicitors are here to answer any questions you have about the Harrods Redress scheme. They can help you understand whether the scheme is suitable for you and help you apply if it is, or we can assist you with making a claim without using the scheme.

Case Study: Expert Legal Support for Former Harrods Employee Claiming for Historic Abuse
We helped our client, Sarah, claim compensation using the Harrods Redress Scheme after she was made to have an unnecessary sexual health check.
Due to recent treatment for an STI she contracted from a long-term partner, she failed the check. The doctor doing the examination became cold and abrupt once Sarah notified her of this, and Al Fayed called her "dirty".
She was eventually let go from her role, after noticing changes in behaviours in Al Fayed and other staff after her examination.
