Biography
I’m an Associate Solicitor based in Irwin Mitchell’s Bristol office, specialising in occupational disease claims. I support individuals and families affected by asbestos-related illnesses, including mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer, asbestosis, and pleural thickening.
My role involves investigating exposure histories, tracing employers and insurers, and building strong legal cases to secure compensation and recognition for those affected. I understand how overwhelming a diagnosis can be, and I’m committed to guiding clients through the legal process with clarity, compassion, and determination.
I’m passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes and pride myself on delivering excellent client care. Whether I’m helping someone recently diagnosed or supporting a bereaved family member, I work hard to ensure they feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their claim.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
What I value most about working at Irwin Mitchell is being part of a team that genuinely cares about making a difference. The firm has a strong commitment to social justice and supporting individuals through complex and emotionally challenging circumstances, which aligns closely with the work I do in asbestos-related disease claims.
I’m surrounded by colleagues who are not only highly skilled but also deeply compassionate. That collaborative environment allows us to share knowledge, support one another, and deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients. It’s a place where specialist expertise is valued, and where I can focus on helping families secure the recognition and financial support they need, with empathy and professionalism.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding part of my role is being able to support families during some of the most difficult and uncertain times in their lives. Many of my clients are facing life-limiting illnesses or grieving the loss of a loved one, and I’m committed to helping them secure the financial support and recognition they deserve.
I often work closely with widows who have lost their partner, often in cases where the person who passed away was also a carer or the main source of financial stability. Some of the widows I represent are disabled or otherwise financially dependent, and the settlements I help secure can make a vital difference—providing long-term financial security and peace of mind at a time when everything else feels uncertain.
What inspired you to get into law?
I was initially drawn to law as a structured and intellectually challenging profession, but it was my early experience in asbestos-related disease claims that truly captured my interest. I discovered a real passion for the investigative side of the role—researching corporate histories, uncovering evidence, and piecing together the facts to build strong, persuasive cases that make a real difference to people’s lives.
This area of law is also deeply personal to me. Generations of my family worked with asbestos on the railways, and my grandfather sadly died from asbestosis many years ago. That connection gives me a strong sense of purpose in helping others affected by similar circumstances. I understand how overwhelming it can be to face a diagnosis, and I’m committed to guiding clients through the legal process with compassion, clarity, and determination to secure the support they deserve.
What do you do away from the office?
Outside of work, I enjoy being active and spending time in nature. I walk and care for my elderly dog, swim outdoors when I can, and spend a lot of time in the garden—growing fruit, building wildlife habitats, and encouraging birds and hedgehogs to visit. I find it incredibly grounding and rewarding.
I also love exploring new places, both in the UK and abroad, especially destinations that are a little off the beaten track. Recent highlights include travelling through Albania and Montenegro. When I do take time to slow down, I enjoy reading—particularly Jane Austen—and catching up with friends and family over coffee.
