Medical Negligence
London

Chambers and Partners
I’m a partner in the Medical Negligence team in London, dedicated to supporting individuals and families whose lives have been affected by avoidable medical harm. I understand how traumatic these experiences can be for both the individual and those closest to them. I work closely with my clients to guide them through this difficult and confusing time, always with a focus on securing them the rehabilitation and compensation they deserve.
Between 2020 and 2025, I recovered over £173 million in damages for my clients.

I act for individuals and families who’ve been affected by serious medical negligence, often in life-changing circumstances. My work typically involves supporting clients who have suffered catastrophic injuries such as brain damage or spinal cord injury, as well as families whose children have been injured at birth or who have lost loved ones due to substandard medical care.
I specialise in complex, high-value cases, including birth injury claims, brain and spinal injuries, delayed cancer diagnoses, and fatal claims.
Many of my clients need long-term support and rehabilitation, so my focus is not only on securing compensation but also on helping them rebuild their lives following serious injury.
I’ve worked on a wide range of complex clinical negligence cases, often involving severe, life-altering injuries. These include claims on behalf of children who’ve sustained brain injuries at birth and individuals affected by delayed diagnosis or serious infections such as meningitis.
Significant settlements I’ve been able to secure include:
My client’s baby suffered a brain injury after feeding problems weren’t identified before they were discharged from hospital, leading to dangerously low blood sugar levels. The hospital initially denied responsibility, but during the court trial agreed to accept 52.5% liability.
As a result of the injury, the child has autism, epilepsy, visual impairment, learning difficulties, and significant physical, communication and behavioural needs, requiring extensive therapy and round-the-clock care. The claim settled shortly before the final compensation hearing, securing a £4.5 million lump sum and annual payments of more than £205,000 for life to fund ongoing care and support.
My client's child suffered a brain injury during labour after concerns about their wellbeing were not acted on quickly enough. Although the hospital accepted responsibility, the full impact only became clear when the child began struggling at school.
Working closely with the family, I secured funding for specialist therapies, case management support, private education and a family move to help the child access the care and support they needed. The claim is ongoing and currently valued at more than £10 million, reflecting the child's lifelong care, education and future support needs.
A settlement with a capitalised value of over £21 million recovered for a child who developed cerebral palsy during her birth. This settlement will provide 2:1 care, suitable accommodation along with equipment and therapies throughout my client’s life.
A settlement of £17.5 million for a child who developed mild cerebral palsy because of a failure to expedite delivery at birth. The settlement ensured my client will have access to the care and support she needs throughout her life, including suitable adaptable accommodation, aids, and equipment.
A lump sum of £5.2 million, plus yearly payments, for a cerebral palsy sufferer with severe developmental delay due to mismanagement of their mother's labour.
Compensation secured for a client who was misdiagnosed as having a stroke when she had in fact Herpes Simplex Viral Encephalitis. As a result of the delay, she developed a severe brain injury.
My approach is to combine detailed legal analysis with a clear focus on my clients’ individual needs and long-term future. I begin by thoroughly investigating the circumstances of the care provided, working closely with leading medical experts to build the strongest possible case.
Throughout the process, I ensure clients understand each stage of their claim and feel supported. I work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm, including rehabilitation specialists and Court of Protection teams, to secure early support and put in place the right care and therapies where possible.
I also focus on identifying both the strengths and risks within a case at an early stage. This helps us to develop a clear strategy that gives a claim the best chance of success, whether through settlement or going to court.
The first meeting is an opportunity for you to tell your story and for me to understand what’s happened and how it’s affected you and your family. I take the time to listen carefully, ask questions, and provide clear, practical advice on whether you may have a claim and what the next steps could be.
Meetings can take place in a way that works best for you, whether in person, at your home, in hospital, at one of our offices, or remotely. My aim is to make the process as straightforward and supportive as possible from the outset.
If you choose to go forward with making a claim, the initial steps I take will involve gathering medical records, obtaining expert evidence, and beginning a detailed investigation into your case. Throughout, I’ll ensure you are kept informed and supported, so you feel confident about how your claim is progressing.
