Georgie Wilson (nee Woolmer)

I’m a Serious Injury Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, supporting adults and children who have sustained life‑changing injuries such as traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. I also act for clients with complex orthopaedic injuries, amputations, psychiatric conditions and chronic pain.

My priority is always my clients and their recovery. I take a person‑centred, pragmatic approach, making the legal process as clear and accessible as possible. I work closely with clients and their families, as well as clinicians, case managers, insurers and defendant representatives, to secure early rehabilitation and, where appropriate, interim payments so that recovery and independence can begin without delay.

I’ve settled multi‑million‑pound claims and regularly handle complex liability disputes, finding practical solutions even where fault is challenged. I’m an APIL Senior Litigator and a member of the Sheffield Law Society Legal Tech Group, and I’m involved in developing and implementing AI at Irwin Mitchell to improve client experience.

What inspired you to get into law? 

I became a lawyer because I wanted to make a real difference for people facing life‑changing injuries. Early in my career, I saw how the right support at the right time, rehabilitation, clear advice, and a strong team, can transform outcomes for clients and their families. 

That experience shaped my approach: combining advocacy and problem‑solving with collaboration, so even in complex or disputed cases, we can unlock practical solutions and early help. I’m also passionate about making the legal process clearer and more accessible, and I’m committed to using innovation where it adds value, so clients can focus on recovery while we take care of the rest.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

For me, it’s seeing clients achieve the goals they set for themselves, whether that’s returning to work, regaining independence, or simply feeling more in control of their lives. Watching clients recover and move forward is incredibly rewarding. 

I also value working alongside such talented professionals, clinicians, case managers, and legal teams, who share the same commitment to making a difference. And of course, securing a good outcome for a client, knowing it gives them security and the chance to focus on the future, is what makes this work so meaningful.

What do you do away from the office? 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and making the most of the outdoors. I like exploring new places, whether that’s a run or a long walk in the countryside, or discovering somewhere new to eat. I also have a toy Cavapoo, Elvis, who keeps me active and out in the fresh air.

Although I’m based in Sheffield, I’m originally from Norfolk and like to get back when I can to see my family and friends, including my niece, especially for walks along the beaches and time by the sea.
