Biography
I advise employers, contractors, subcontractors, and construction professionals on a broad range of contentious construction matters, including contract disputes, delays, defects, and payment issues. My approach is strategic and commercially focused, ensuring legal solutions align with client objectives and budget constraints. I regularly procure and assess expert reports and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and timely updates. I’m also active in the industry, attending construction seminars and local networking events to build connections and generate new business opportunities. My goal is to deliver practical, results-driven legal support that helps clients navigate complex construction disputes with confidence.
In my free time I play tennis and cook.
Key Highlights
- Advised a main contractor regarding an employer’s invalid termination. The project concerned a £2.5 million renovation of a Grade II listed property under a JCT contract. Referred and successfully ran two adjudications for a determination of the repudiatory breach and associated damages. Subsequently obtained judgment and indemnity costs following adjudication enforcement proceedings in the TCC.
- Represented a residential employer in a logistically complex defects claim for over £50,000 against the contractor in the CCCL. The court awarded the employer damages and indemnity costs and dismissed the contractor’s counterclaim for alleged non-payment in the sum of £95,000.
- Acted for a main contractor in a true value adjudication against residential employers under a JCT
contract. The adjudicator reduced the employers’ deductions for alleged delays and defective works to £nil, following which the contractor was paid its payment application in full.
- Acted for a contractor in a dispute with an employer under a NEC3 contract concerning civil engineering works in excess of £12 million. The dispute concerned the extent to which the parties had amended their contract, which was material to the contractual payment mechanism. The dispute was adjudicated and decided in favour of the contractor’s interpretation.
- Acted for a sub-contractor on two smash and grab adjudications against a main contractor for non-payment of interim applications in excess of £220,000 under a bespoke construction contract.
