Irwin Mitchell Celebrates 30 Years In London With Move To New Office
Irwin Mitchell is marking 30 years of being in London by relocating from its current Holborn home to the prestigious Northcliffe building.
The Northcliffe, originally built for Associated Newspapers in the 1920s, is a listed building that has just undergone an extensive refurbishment with modern facilities, whilst the character and grandeur of the building has been preserved. Irwin Mitchell will be taking over the whole of the third floor of the building totalling around 29,000 sq. ft.
The full-service law firm opened in the capital with three partners back in 1995 and has now grown its London team to 424 colleagues, including 60 Partners and 125 Associates and Senior Associates.
The firm offers a full-suite of legal services in London, including complex personal injury and medical negligence, high net worth private client advisory, family law, corporate law, employment law, public law and Court of Protection, real estate, regulatory and compliance, restructuring and insolvency, intellectual property (IP) and pensions.
Deborah Casale, an Employment Partner and Irwin Mitchell’s Regional Lead Partner for London, said: “The Northcliffe building has great character and history, excellent modern facilities and is in a prime location in the heart of legal London which is ideal for both our clients and colleagues. . We’re confident that this move will support our commitment to providing our clients with exceptional legal services and further bolster our presence in the city
“Irwin Mitchell has proudly served clients from London and internationally for three decades, offering expert legal advice and representation. The capital and its vibrant legal community remains a key draw globally for both individuals and businesses who continue to see London as a centre of excellence for legal services.
“Under the leadership of Alison Eddy, who steered the London office for the past 12 years, we have grown to become a major London firm and we look forward to building on that success over the next few years.”
Sustainability remains an important objective for the firm and in line with its goal of achieving net-zero by 2040, it has sought to recycle office items from its former Holborn home such as furniture and IT equipment with some redeployed in other offices or provided to other organisations in need of equipment.
The renovated Northcliffe building has been designed with hybrid working, accessibility and colleague wellbeing in mind with features such as a gym, meeting spaces, social spaces, a rooftop terrace, a multi-faith room and a stunning glass atrium. Irwin Mitchell’s new office includes a seminar and events space for up to 120 people. From an accessibility point of view Irwin Mitchell’s new London office space has braille signage, height adjustable desks, and hearing loops in meeting rooms.
Irwin Mitchell, which passed £300m revenue for the first time in 2024, has also expanded regionally in recent years with successful new office openings in Liverpool, Cardiff, Brighton and Nottingham; and expansion in Scotland with investment in Wright, Johnston and Mackenzie. The firm also recently announced a deal to sell its asset management business to focus on its core legal services for individuals and businesses.
