Head Of Planning & Environment Named In Latest Edition Of ENDS Power List

Irwin Mitchell’s National Head of Planning and Environment team, Claire Petricca-Riding, has been named as one of most impactful lawyers in The UK in the lates edition of the ENDS Power List.

The prestigious list names the 100 UK environmental professionals who have made the greatest influence in the past two years – as nominated by their colleagues, clients and competitors. This year’s list includes only 12 other lawyers.

To be included on the list, now in its fourth year, an individual must meet at least one of four broad criteria. They may have shaped or influenced national or local environmental policy. Their actions may have enhanced the reputation of the environmental profession. Their work may have resulted in demonstrable and positive environmental improvements. Alternatively, they may be unsung heroes who, without acknowledgement or accolades, have worked tirelessly to make significant contributions to green causes 

Described by nominators as a ‘trailblazer’, Claire Petricca Riding was praised for her involvement in high-profile cases and projects in recent years, including those relating to biodiversity net gain, contaminated land, and environmental impact assessments.

One nominator said: “Claire's ability to combine technical brilliance with a genuine passion for environmental stewardship makes her a transformative force in the ESG and sustainability space. Her work has left an indelible mark on clients, colleagues, and the broader environmental community.”

Another nominator said that she has “Consistently demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership in delivering innovative legal solutions that drive positive environmental outcomes. Claire's passion for sustainability transcends her legal practice; she actively champions biodiversity net gain, nature-based solutions, and circular economy principles, shaping regulatory frameworks and influencing policies at a national level”.

They added: “Her commitment to mentoring and supporting others is equally inspiring, fostering the next generation of environmentally conscious professionals. [...] Claire's ability to combine technical brilliance with a genuine passion for environmental stewardship makes her a transformative force in the ESG and sustainability space.”
