Irwin Mitchell has bolstered its medical negligence services in Scotland with the appointment of Partner Darren Deery.

Darren, who previously sat on the management board of Drummond Miller, is one of Scotland’s most renowned medical negligence experts.

He has been ranked as a Band 1 individual on Chambers & Partners for 12 years with recognised expertise in surgical errors, delayed diagnoses and fatal accidents.

His appointment to Irwin Mitchell builds on the firm’s continued expansion in the Scottish legal sector which has seen the firm attract reputable talent from multiple competitors and a marked rise in new business.

Kim Leslie, Head of Personal Injury at Irwin Mitchell in Scotland, said: “Darren is undoubtedly one of Scotland’s top legal minds within the complex arena of medical negligence and I’m delighted to welcome him to the firm.

“He has a proven track record in taking on incredibly complex cases and delivering successful results for clients, while also having a strong and calm mentality that makes him a valued and respected leader.

“The last 18 months or so at Irwin Mitchell has been a real whirlwind with the firm as we continue to invest in our people and deliver the kind of industry-leading results Irwin Mitchell is known for.

“This is a really exciting time for us all and Darren joining the team is the latest significant milestone in our commitment to delivering a market-leading service.”

Darren added: “Throughout my career I’ve strived to help people affected by medical negligence and I believe joining Irwin Mitchell at this exciting time will allow us to help even more victims and families by aiming to deliver the very best legal service in Scotland.”

As well as expanding its personal injury team in Scotland, Irwin Mitchell has also recently invested in Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie which merged with Davidson Chalmers Stewart earlier this year.
