Irwin Mitchell Expansion Marks 30 Years Of Success In The City
Irwin Mitchell is relocating to The Colmore Building in the heart of the Birmingham central business district.
The law firm has leased the seventh and ninth floors of the Colmore Building, comprising 46,750 sq ft of office space. In January, it will become the new home to Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office which has a head count of 320 members of staff. The office has market leading experts in a range of areas, including family law, medical negligence, personal injury, corporate, real estate, insolvency, employment and a number of other legal areas.
The move from Imperial House reflects over 30 years of success in providing legal services to both individuals and businesses in the West Midlands and beyond. Improving the working environment for Irwin Mitchell’s people and clients alike, the move is also expected to lay the groundwork for its continued regional expansion.
The law firm reported increased turnover to £263m last year and has a national headcount of 3000. Irwin Mitchell is ranked among the most active deal-making law firms by Experian and is the third most active litigation law firm in the UK courts.

Opened in 2008, The 14 story Colmore Building is Birmingham’s leading office block. A £3.5m refurbishment in 2016 means the building boasts unrivalled amenities, including a coffee house, gym and cycling facilities. The BREEAM environmental and sustainability rating of ‘excellent’ is also in line with Irwin Mitchell’s environmental credentials and drive to move to ‘green’ offices.
