Irwin Mitchell’s Corporate Team Advises On Transaction
Birmingham-based Weir Waste Services has been acquired by UK leading integrated waste management and recycling business, Biffa, in a £16.5m deal.
Established in 1999 by Daniel Weir, Weir Waste is a recycling and waste management specialist operating across the West Midlands, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.
As at 31 May 2017, it generated revenues of around £16m and has a workforce of 120 people. It operates a fleet of around 45 vehicles and a substantial recycling and waste treatment operation at a seven-acre freehold site in a key location in Birmingham.
Following the deal, Weir Waste Services will be incorporated into Biffa’s Industrial & Commercial division - enabling the combined business to deliver operational and back office cost synergies and to improve its customer offer throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Irwin Mitchell Corporate partner Chris Rawstron and Solicitor Matt Smith advised Weir Waste’s two shareholders, Daniel and Pamela Weir, on the deal.
