Police Investigating Incident
A driver in Sussex has been hospitalised with serious life-threatening injuries following a road collision in the early hours of this morning.
Police in the region are appealing for witnesses who may have information in relation to the incident, which saw the man’s Renault Megane collide with a fence on the A27 near Lewes.
The scene was attended by the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, while parts of the carriageway and nearby roundabouts have also been closed due to the incident.
Colin Ettinger, who regularly works with the victims of those seriously injured in collisions on the road, said: “News of this incident is a major for concern and I hope police are able to work quickly to discover what caused this terrible crash.
“It is the latest of several crashes seen on the A27 since the turn of the year, so it is vital that any concerns about the safety of the route are considered by the local authorities.
“Through my work I regularly see the traumatic impact that collisions can have on those involved, as well as the serious injuries that they are often left with.
“It is key that every possible step is taken to ensure lessons can be learnt that will help to avoid similar incidents in the future.”
