Illness in Dominican Republic
The Bahia Principe in San Juan, in the Dominican Republic has been reported to have had further problems with illness despite an alarming outbreak last year in which we currently act for over 1000 clients in an action against a number of Tour Operators including Thomas Cook, My Travel Tour Operations Limited, First Choice Holidays & Flights Limited and Thomson Holidays.
These actions follow an outbreak of gastric illness in which some cases were confirmed as, Shigella, Salmonella and Campylobacter by holiday makers who travelled between January 2007 and August 2007 with a peak in the number of cases between June and August 2007.We have also had previous successful cases against the same hotel in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
The current outbreak has struck guests who travelled to the hotel in January 2008. Holidaymakers who travelled during this period confirm that they were not advised by their Tour Operator of the previous outbreaks at the hotel despite the widespread outbreak of gastric illness which continues at this hotel. Guests allege amongst other complaints that the food was undercooked and the hotel rooms were in need of an upgrade. There is also alleged problems with cockroaches at this hotel. It is alleged that Health and Hygiene inspectors have again been called into this hotel.
We urge anyone who has stayed at this hotel within the last 12 months to come forward. You can claim online here for free advice.
