Irwin Mitchell’s specialist serious injury team has helped a man receive compensation after he was severely injured while waiting to cross a road.
Our client was waiting with a friend to cross a road when he suddenly hit by a van passed too close to the kerb. Our client was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious traumatic brain injury with multiple broken bones including some serious fractures to his face and skull.
Unfortunately the accident left our client with a very serious disability which caused him to have difficulties with his mobility and balance. He also had difficulties with managing daily activities and will not be able to go back to work.
Our client decided to contact Irwin Mitchell’s specialised serious injury team and one of our experienced solicitors was able to deal with his claim. During the claim it was difficult to prove that it was the van drives fault as he claimed that our client simply stepped into the road. Unfortunately there were no witnesses and our client had no memory of the accident.
The case was finally settled in July 2012 in the sum of £200,000. This sum will allow ongoing rehabilitation such as occupational therapy and physiotherapy as well as to pay for assistance at home. The money will make a significant improvement to our client’s quality of life.
If you or a loved one has been seriously injured as a pedestrian, our serious injury solicitors could help you claim compensation. See our Pedestrian Accident Claims page for more information.
