Biography
Tom is a Senior Associate in our Birmingham Restructuring & Insolvency team, specialising in all areas of corporate recovery and insolvency. Tom’s clients primarily include insolvency practitioners, banks and companies both at a regional and national level.
Tom qualified into the Restructuring & Insolvency team in 2019. Tom was promoted to Associate in 2023 and was promoted to Senior Associate in 2024. In 2022, Tom undertook a twelve-month secondment in the Restructuring legal team of a national clearing bank, during which he worked closely with the Restructuring business on a wide variety of matters, from routine enquires to complex restructuring assignments and projects.

Tom’s recent experience includes:

Acting for administrators of a group of logistics companies in relation to a complex pre-packaged sale of the business and assets of two companies across four separate transactions. Tom led on the transaction (with an aggregate deal value of c£2 million) which involved complex property matters across multiple sites, sales to multiple purchasers and the management of multiple stakeholders (including a varied secured lender group).

Acting for administrators in connection with the pre-packaged sale of the business and assets of a well-known national BMX retailer and distributor. The sale included a transfer of US and German subsidiaries and a complex property portfolio.

Providing validity of security, enforcement and restructuring advice to an international clearing bank in relation to an industry-leading provider of broadcast technology services, resulting in a solvent restructuring of the bank’s existing facilities and security.

Advising an institutional property finance lender in relation to various exposures and enforcement of security in connection with various separate exposures.

Acting for an offshore client in connection with its purchase of a private members’ club in Mayfair out of administration.

Acting for LPA Receivers in respect of a portfolio of properties in the Midlands, and advising on disposals of the same.
Tom has also recently appeared on local BBC radio to discuss local insolvency matters and regularly provides training to clients on all matters of insolvency law and practice.
Outside of work, Tom is a keen hiker and spends as much time as possible outdoors with his dog. Tom recently arranged the Birmingham office charity hike in the Brecon Beacons, raising over £2,500 for our National Charity Partners.
