As a full member of ACTAPS, I specialise in disputes relating to wills, trusts and estates. These disputes include Inheritance Act claims where a party claims not to have received reasonable financial provision, executor misconduct where there are allegations of delay or misuse of estate funds, trust litigation including the interpretation or variation of trusts and will challenges based on lack of capacity, undue influence and other grounds. In addition, I also deal with contested Court of Protection matters such as revocation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and disputed Deputyship applications.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I was inspired to get into law by my grandparents, one of whom was a police officer involved in several notorious cases.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
Will, trust and estate disputes can be both complex and challenging due to the emotive background which often involves a bereavement. It is very rewarding to obtain an outcome for the client that protects them or their family at a difficult time.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
The firm continues to go from strength to strength. In particular the Will, Trust & Estate Dispute team is both talented and highly regarded amongst clients and other professionals.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
Away from the office, I enjoy watching football with my husband and two children (one of whom is often on the pitch), going on camping holidays and visiting new places to improve my photography.
"Stephanie Kerr has made this very upsetting and emotional journey more manageable and less stressful. Communication has been excellent. Stephanie would explain all the legal terminology, keep me updated at every step and she offered practical advice when I was too emotional to think straight. She is deeply knowledgeable in this field which filled me with much confidence. She was superb in dealing with the other side and their legal personnel." - Legal 500
