Rosa Shand

Solicitor

Biography

Medical Negligence Solicitor Qualified in September 2021. Joined IM in 2025. I have experience working with clients living with a wide range of medical conditions, including complex spinal injuries, orthopaedic injuries, birth-related and acquired brain injuries, reproductive complications, as well as those impacted by a delayed cancer diagnosis.

I also represent families whose loved ones have died as a result of negligent medical treatment.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

Getting to meet people from all walks of life and help them get the answers and compensation they deserve. While the medical ‘nuts and bolts’ of a case can be very interesting, nothing beats achieving a good result for a client, especially when you have worked with them for years and been inspired by their story.

What inspired you to get into law?

I knew I wanted to be a lawyer from a young age. I was passionate about standing up for what I felt was right and a career in law seemed the best way for me to do this. I also knew I wanted to specialise in medical negligence very early on. I have always been fascinated by health and medical science. Therefore, a career that enabled me to indulge both my interest in law and medicine, as well as help people who I felt had been wronged, was a natural choice. I never had to think too much about it.

What do you do away from the office?

I like to explore new places – I am rarely far off my next hiking or diving trip. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family – especially over a good meal!
