Biography
I started in the Serious Injury team as a Paralegal specialising in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injuries in 2013.
I qualified as a Solicitor in March 2018 after undertaking my training, gaining experience in Clinical Negligence and Public Law & Human Rights. I am now an Associate Solicitor after achieving my Higher Rights of Audience which allow me to represent clients in the High Courts.
During my time in the serious injury team, I've represented clients who have been seriously injured in road traffic accidents, accidents at work, or accidents in public places.
I'm experienced at attending court hearings, including 4 liability trials where we secured positive outcomes for our clients, ensuring that they could fund the specialist, bespoke rehabilitation that they needed.
The most important part of my role is looking to secure early interim payments. These allow clients to access rehabilitation as soon as possible after sustaining life-changing injuries. Rehabilitation is key and we never underestimate the importance of getting this in early to help people rebuild their lives.
I have good long-standing relationships with local charities, hospitals and rehabilitation units. I also have personal experience of brain injury in my family which makes me even more passionate about what I do.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I love a challenge and finding unique and creative solutions to problems, so the Law seemed the perfect place for me!
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
My clients and their families. I am so proud to be able to support those whose lives have been turned upside down following a serious injury.
From the initial meeting to settlement, I enjoy building relationships with clients and seeing them progress and achieve things that I just wouldn’t have imagined.
I can safely say that no two cases are ever the same!
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
I think 'expert hand, human touch' really sums Irwin Mitchell up for me.
The Serious Injury team are a fantastic group of skilled lawyers but more importantly, a great bunch of people to learn from and work with.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I have a troublesome Cocker Spaniel named Sweep who keeps me busy! I also enjoy playing Netball and am part of the Irwin Mitchell team.
I love travelling and my favourite destination so far is Singapore - stunning!
