Biography
I am a Welfare Benefits specialist. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding disabilities, having previously worked as a Supported Living Services manager and disabled children's charity Information Officer.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The variety of my role is great and I really value our 'Flexible by choice' policy which allows me to choose how and where I work, to ensure both our client's needs are met in a way that suits me.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Securing a positive outcome for a client is always great, but there's something extra special about winning at Tribunal, especially if the DWP send their own Presenting Officer as well.
What inspired you to get into law?
This role appealed to me as it gave me a further opportunity to help people receive support they should be entitled to but may have otherwise been denied. I relish the chance to challenge inaccurate decisions within the benefits' system.
What do you do away from the office?
I love playing and watching Football and am a Goalkeeper by trade. I enjoy watching movies and playing both computer and board games with my kids. I'm also a keen Poker player and have won several league championships.
Testimonials
"I received advice and Guidance from Omar Shefta with regard to obtaining Tax Credits. Omar has supported me throughout the whole tedious, terrifying process to help me achieve the best outcome possible for me and my twin boys. As a single parent coping with the stresses of daily life, HMRC applications can be so daunting, I genuinely could not have continued my fight without Omar's support. Thank You Omar!" - 5* Trustpilot review from Court of Protection client's mother
