Chambers and Partners
I am a partner in our Private Client Advisory team, leading our Southern teams across Chichester, Southampton, Crawley and Brighton, and heading our national Rural Business Special Interest Group.
I advise individuals, families, trustees, business owners and landowners who want to protect what they have built, make thoughtful provision for the people and causes they care about, and pass on wealth in a clear, tax-efficient and sustainable way.

I usually work with individuals and families who are thinking carefully about how best to protect, manage, and pass on wealth. Many of my clients are:
I also work closely with clients’ other professional advisers where helpful. This ensures legal, tax, land, business, financial, and family considerations are considered together and the advice feels joined up.
The individual cases I work on are largely confidential. However, I have worked on a wide range of complex cases, which included the following elements:
I start by listening carefully. Each client’s circumstances are different, and good estate planning depends on understanding not only the assets and tax position, but also the family relationships, business priorities, personal concerns and long-term hopes behind the planning.
From there, I look at the client’s current arrangements, identify any gaps, risks or opportunities, and explain the options in clear and practical terms. I know that clients are often making important decisions at sensitive moments, so I aim to give advice that is technically strong but also easy to understand and focused on what they are trying to achieve.
The right solution may involve updating Wills, powers of attorney, trust documents, company or partnership arrangements, family investment company documents or governance arrangements. It may also involve lifetime giving, restructuring existing arrangements, or coordinating advice with accountants, financial planners, land agents or other specialist advisers. My aim is to give clients a clear pathway towards their goals, rather than simply presenting technical options.
Throughout the matter, I support clients by explaining each stage, anticipating practical issues, and helping them make informed decisions at a pace that feels right for them.
Where a family, business or estate has several moving parts, I can bring together the right advisers from across our firm and work alongside the client’s existing professional team so that the advice is joined up, thoughtful and commercially useful.
In a first meeting, I will take time to understand your circumstances, your assets, your family or business structure, and what you would like to achieve. I will also ask about any concerns you have, no matter what they relate to.
The meeting is intended to be a helpful and reassuring conversation, not a test of how much you already know. If the matter is straightforward, I may be able to give you clear advice during the meeting. If the issues are more complex, I will usually provide initial views, explain your main options, and follow up with more detailed written advice so that you have time to consider the recommendations properly.
Meetings can usually take place in person or by video call, depending on what is most convenient and appropriate. After the first meeting, I will explain the likely next steps, what information we need, the options available, and the likely scope and cost of any further work. My aim is for you to leave the first conversation feeling listened to, clearer about your choices and reassured that there is a practical way forward.
