Michelle Ennis

Support and Rehabilitation Coordinator

Biography

I am an Occupational Therapist (OT) with over 30 years' experience within the NHS, Higher Education and more recently, the commercial sector.

Much of my career was spent at The Walton Centre for Neurology & Neurosurgery in Liverpool, where I held Clinical Specialist and Clinical Lead roles. I worked across acute and trauma care, long-term neurological conditions, and life-limiting illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed and led clinical services, introduced specialist interventions, undertaken research and managed teams of Occupational Therapists. These roles have shaped my clinical judgement and strengthened my ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and organisations. I held a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy position at The University of Liverpool, where I spent eight years teaching and contributing to widening participation initiatives.

What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?

I am excited to be joining Irwin Mitchell and the team of Support and Rehabilitation Coordinators and having the opportunity to use my varied experience to positively contribute to our client’s experience and the SRC Team. I feel a sense of affinity with the company values and appreciate the opportunities for engaging with the wider organisation.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I have always felt it is a privilege to be involved in people’s lives at a time when life has thrown them unwelcome and what seem unbearable challenges, and I am passionate about working with clients to empower them to achieve their goals and aspirations.

What inspired you to get into law?

I made the transition from a health care setting into the legal sector to broaden my skills and experience.  I am passionate about clients receiving the right care and support at the right time and making best practice a reality.

What do you do away from the office?

Socially, I enjoy walking and travel, particularly city breaks.  I am a member of a choir (despite not being able to hold a note!) which is a great activity for socialising and boosting wellbeing.  I don’t have any extraordinary interests or skills – but being an Occupational Therapist of course I enjoy crafts and creative activities, and I am always happy to take baking requests from the office!
