Biography
I specialise in multi-jurisdictional wealth structuring, international tax and trusts and worldwide estate planning for high and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families.
I have worked at leading global law firms and spent time in top-ranked London and regional private wealth teams, managing the full spectrum of private client matters from the preparation of tax-efficient wills, family trusts and powers of attorney to cross-border probates and the administration of high-value and complex estates.
I focus on assisting the internationally mobile, including non-UK domiciled individuals coming to the UK who require pre-arrival tax planning and those clients leaving the UK who would like to plan for their exit.
I also advise owner-managed and family-owned businesses on tax, succession, governance and capacity issues. I particularly enjoy helping clients achieve their philanthropic goals and assist with the creation, registration and running of charitable trusts, companies and charitable incorporated organisations. I also act as a charity trustee.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The people! My colleagues are great to work with and there is support at all levels. The firm is of such a size that there is always someone who can help solve an issue.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The relationships that I build with my clients. I work in an area of law that primarily deals with private individuals and it's an honour to become their trusted adviser.
What inspired you to get into law?
In primary school, my class was visited by a magistrate to talk about our legal system. We then took part in a mock trial and were given roles to play . It was a fun and engaging first experience of the law and I enjoyed constructing an argument and thinking critically.
Even though I did not choose the contentious route in my legal career, I am still faced with interesting challenges and find fulfilment in helping to solve my clients’ problems.
What do you do away from the office?
As a busy dad, I am usually running around after my children, but if time allows, there are many beautiful places for us to enjoy as a family near the Surrey/Hampshire border area where we live. We're also not far from London and it's great to take advantage of city experiences, too.
