Medical Negligence
Sheffield

Client testimonial
I am a Paralegal in the Medical Negligence Resolve team at Irwin Mitchell, where I help clients who have suffered injuries as a result of substandard medical treatment. I manage my own caseload of lower-value clinical negligence claims under supervision, supporting clients through what is often a difficult and stressful time.
My role involves investigating potential claims from the outset, obtaining and reviewing medical records, identifying the key issues in a case, and gathering evidence to assess whether negligence may have occurred. I work closely with independent medical experts to understand whether the treatment provided fell below an acceptable standard and whether this caused avoidable harm.

I work with people who have been harmed by medical treatment that fell below an acceptable standard. My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and are often dealing with the physical, emotional and financial impact of avoidable injuries caused by healthcare providers.
I deal with a wide variety of cases, including orthopaedic, surgical, gynaecological, and paediatric claims. I have also assisted clients in complex orthopaedic and surgical claims involving delayed diagnosis, failures in treatment planning, and avoidable postoperative complications. In each matter, I work closely with medical experts to build the evidence needed to support the claim and achieve the best possible outcome for my clients. Beyond securing compensation, I understand that many clients simply want answers and reassurance that lessons have been learned, and I take pride in helping them navigate what can be a challenging and emotional process.
Every case is different, and I understand that pursuing a claim can feel daunting, particularly when clients are still coping with the physical and emotional effects of what has happened.
My first priority is to listen to your experience and gain a clear understanding of how the treatment has affected your life. I then obtain and review your medical records, identify the key issues in the case, and work with independent medical experts to determine whether the care you received fell below an acceptable standard and, importantly, whether that caused you additional harm.
To give each case the best chance of success, I take the time to build a detailed picture of what happened and how the injury has affected my client. This includes gathering supporting evidence, assessing financial losses, and obtaining expert opinions to strengthen the claim. I believe every client deserves clear communication, realistic advice and dedicated support throughout the process, and I work hard to achieve the best possible outcome for each individual.
When you first meet with me, the focus will be on understanding your experience and assessing whether there may be grounds for a medical negligence claim. I appreciate that discussing medical treatment can be difficult, so I aim to create a supportive and relaxed environment where you feel comfortable telling me what happened and asking any questions you may have.
We can usually meet in a way that suits you. During the initial meeting, I will listen to your account of the treatment you received, discuss how it has affected you and explain the legal process in straightforward, easy-to-understand terms.
