Biography
I’m a Partner in the Court of Protection team, covering the Bristol, Southampton and Cardiff offices.
I specialise in all areas of mental capacity and Court of Protection work with a primary focus on dealing with high value deputyships, as well as personal injury Trusts. I have extensive experience of supporting vulnerable clients and providing advice to lay clients and professionals in this niche and specialised area of law.
I act for a wide range of clients including children and adults who’ve suffered brain damage as a result of clinical negligence or brain injury following a catastrophic accident. I provide them assistance in managing their compensation awards. I work collaboratively with litigation teams, case managers, financial advisors and third party professionals to provide the high level support.
I have particular experience in setting up and managing:
- Trusts for children
- Statutory will and gift applications to the Court of Protection
- Applications for the appointment of a Deputy
- Implementing recommendations for care, case management, therapies and investment.
I am also experienced in the preparation of litigation support statements in personal injury and clinical negligence claims on likely future professional deputyship costs.
What inspired you to get into law?
I always wanted to make a difference to people’s lives but, to be honest, I fell in to the law. After my A levels, I wasn’t sure what to do next so I did a law degree as I enjoyed watching legal dramas at the time. After doing some work experience in a local solicitors firm, I soon realised that law was for me.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
My clients. It’s a privilege to do this job and it’s incredibly rewarding being part of a team to support clients in their rehabilitation journey post brain injury. We often come into client’s lives at a distressing time and helping clients make progress and navigate life events is the highlight of my job.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
My colleagues. The firm has a collaborative approach between teams who act for the same client, all working towards the same goal with the emphasis on the client and their rehabilitation.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office, I’m kept busy by my two young children, so I have limited time for anything else! After a brief stint as an international athlete, I’m also involved in sports coaching and I enjoy travelling and going to the theatre when I get the time.

"Irwin Mitchell have been incredible. From the day I called them to talk about my little girl after being diagnosed with strep b, meningitis septicaemia and pneumonia and being left with cerebral palsy, Epilepsy and other conditions to four years later when she’s come on leaps and bounds. They’re an outstanding company and there is nothing that is too much trouble for them. They go above and beyond . . . They’re not just [my daughter's solicitors] they’re like family too." - Client
