I am a Partner specialising in medical negligence claims. This is an area I have specialised in exclusively since qualification. I was previously based at Irwin Mitchell's Manchester office (2006 – 2012) and now work in our London office.
"Irwin Mitchell-Medical Negligence are experts in this field, in particular Leena Savjani and Georgie Cushing. I’ve received an exceptional service from them both when things were very difficult. They kept me updated throughout the 3 years. Every time I had any communication with them I felt my case was important to them and no matter how many times I asked the same question they both were more than happy to clarify. I would highly recommend Leena Savjani and Georgie Cushing, a great asset to Irwin Mitchell." - Arti, former client
“Irwin Mitchell [helped me with a] difficult . . . case against an NHS Trust for failures of care leading to the death of my husband. The case lasted four years. Throughout, the Irwin Mitchell partners and staff, in particular Leena Savjani, provided excellent support and guidance. Leena was always accessible and helpful, she understood our family's priorities including the importance of an apology from the Trust. [Her] ability to combine fierce commitment with pragmatism and tact were clearly instrumental in getting the best outcome.” - former client
It was always a toss between journalism or law, and law won! I remember reading Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird" at school and feeling very inspired by one of the central characters Atticus Finch. I made my mind up at a very young age and have stuck to my decision since!
Most of my clients have suffered from a serious injury or have lost a loved one due to a medical accident. The most rewarding aspect of my job is undoubtedly finding answers for these clients and making a positive difference to their lives. Litigation is a daunting prospect for most people and providing my clients with guidance and support through this difficult process is very important to me.
I trained and qualified at Irwin Mitchell and have been with the firm since. Irwin Mitchell is a leader in many specialist areas of law and the service, knowledge and skills offered to clients is second to none.
In my spare time I like to fit in as much exercise as possible - I enjoy running (mainly 10Ks) and I am also a fan of Bikram Yoga! My favourite holiday destination is Las Vegas and I've been four times so far (and counting!).
“This is a truly devastating case in which a family have seen a much-loved mother and grandmother suffer two strokes in the space of eight years, with it subsequently emerging that the second could have been avoided if the aneurysm had been correctly detected on the CT from 2007.
“While it is very welcome that the NHS Trust has admitted liability in this case, we are now determined to ensure Heather can get access to the support and assistance she requires.
“It is also absolutely vital that the clear – and shocking – failings in this case are simply never allowed to happen again.”
“Through our work we often see the devastating consequences that sepsis can have on those diagnosed with the condition and their families.
“We are investigating Stan’s care and if during our investigations any failings are identified, it is important that lessons are learned to improve patient care.
“Stan’s tenacity to overcome sepsis and determination to make others aware of the condition is inspiring.
“We join him in using World Sepsis Day to promote the importance of spotting the signs of sepsis early so patients can receive vital care at the earliest opportunity.”
“The last 15 years have been incredibly difficult for RY who has endured countless surgeries, delays in physical development and frustration at not being able to match his peers in their physical abilities. It has also been an immense struggle for his family who have seen him struggle and lose confidence as a result of the injury he sustained through medical errors.
“This settlement will now provide RY with the ability to fund any support or rehabilitative treatment he requires to live a full and happy life as independently as possible.
“It is important that the NHS Trust continues to learn from the mistakes made and improve its practices to ensure that no other family will have to endure what RY and his family have been through.”
“Michael’s death has left a gaping hole in the lives of his parents, sisters, friends and those who knew him through his extraordinary talent and passion for chess.
“It is clear through my involvement with Ayelet and Roy that Michael was an exceptionally gifted child, treasured by those who knew him.
“While nothing can change what has happened to Michael, it is disappointing to hear that there were numerous missed opportunities to treat him in the months before he died and we hope that lessons can be learned from his tragic death so that no one else suffers as he did and that no parent suffers the same indescribable loss as Roy and Ayelet continue to feel today.”
