Biography
I started with the business in September 2016 as a Paralegal Apprentice - in the first cohort of IM's apprentices. I completed this in September 2018 and continued working as a paralegal on a further apprenticeship as a Chartered Legal Executive Apprentice until I completed this in April 2023 and qualified.
I specialise in medical negligence and since starting with the firm in 2016 I have worked with many clients, on cases involving many issues such as surgical complications, orthopaedic issues, delay in diagnosing cancer, obstetric and gynaecological cases, urological issues and more. I have a special interest in inquest work.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
We confidently offer an excellent service to our clients every day and support them through what can be a very difficult, complex and emotionally demanding process, offering steadfast client advocacy. Our firm has a collaborative environment where every team member’s expertise is valued, and we work together to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
We have access to excellent training resources and a wealth of teams to keep us up to date on any legislative/procedural changes and ensure continuous learning and professional development. I am very confident that at IM I can stay at the forefront of legal advancements.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Giving a voice to people who are seeking justice through the legal system, helping them navigate the complexities of a claim, and advocating for justice. When somebody is bringing a legal claim it can be a very difficult and challenging time, and I can offer support throughout the process, as well as raise awareness and contribute to the improvement of medical standards and practice.
What inspired you to get into law?
I have always had an interest in the subject and this deepened through academic pursuits. I was drawn to the intellectual challenge of understanding the intricate legal principles and the opportunity to advocate for people on a daily basis, and every day feel sure that I am in the right career. I enjoy the intersection of medicine and law specifically and am passionate about the positive impact of effective legal representation and the opportunity for systemic change.
What do you do away from the office?
I like to unwind in lots of different ways – walking with my dogs and spending time outside, travelling, reading and lots of time spent with my nearest and dearest.
