Biography
I joined Irwin Mitchell in 2014 and am based in the Sheffield office. I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2019. I currently work in the Asbestos and Occupational Disease Team, specialising in representing clients diagnosed with asbestos-related conditions due to occupational, environmental and secondary exposure to asbestos. I have dealt with numerous cases which have included recovery of private treatment costs for mesothelioma clients.
I understand how challenging it can be for clients and their families when faced with an asbestos-related diagnosis. My previous clients have praised my caring and compassionate approach to handling their cases.
What inspired you to get into law?
From a young age, I was always fascinated by the intricacies of investigation and the pursuit of justice. This curiosity led me to study Forensic Investigation at university, with the initial goal of becoming a Scenes of Crime Officer. However, as I delved deeper into my studies and gained work experience, I realised that my true passion lay in understanding the aftermath of incidents and supporting those affected.
Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of victims and their families, I decided to return to university to study law. This decision was fuelled by my commitment to advocating for those who have suffered injuries and ensuring they receive the justice and support they deserve. Becoming a personal injury solicitor has allowed me to combine my investigative skills with my compassionate nature, providing a holistic approach to legal representation.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is knowing that the work I do makes a significant difference to families whose lives have been devastated by a cancer diagnosis. While we cannot overturn a terminal diagnosis, we can offer a helping hand and financial security for loved ones in successful cases.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I enjoy working at Irwin Mitchell because I am surrounded by like-minded professionals who are genuinely committed to doing the very best for our clients. My colleagues are top quality and share my belief that the client is at the heart of everything we do. They leave no stone unturned in gathering the best evidence to achieve the best outcomes for our clients. Additionally, Irwin Mitchell offers a comprehensive range of legal services, ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality legal advice throughout their legal journey and beyond.
What do you do away from the office?
Outside of the office, I value spending quality time with my family, especially with my little boy, Bennie. Our Sproodle dog adds an extra layer of joy and liveliness to our home with her playful antics. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends over meals and drinks, sharing laughter and creating memories together.

"After my dad's diagnosis of mesothelioma cancer, we were urged by the cancer nurse to make a claim. I am so glad we chose Irwin Mitchell at Sheffield. We have had such a professional experience and feel like we know Simon on a personal level. During the case, we have then had Kerry to progress our case until the end who, again, has dealt with myself in a professional manner and explained everything in detail. It is lovely to see the positive outcome for my mum, even though nothing will ever replace my dad who is missed dearly on a daily basis." - 5* Trustpilot Review from Client

"Since our case has been taken over by Kerry Ford (Sheffield branch), she has been amazing. It’s nice to know she is always on the end of the phone, she always answers our questions and queries in a friendly but professional manner. In such a short time she has worked so hard for us and the case has moved forward significantly since she has taken over. Kerry has understood the situation we are in and has shown a good knowledge of what a brain injury means not only to the client but also what this means to the family, she has given us full support at all times and continues to do so. We can’t thank Kerry enough for the hard work and commitment she has put in so far, highly recommended." - 5* Trustpilot review
