Biography
I work as a Solicitor in the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell, dealing with injuries to the brain, spinal cord and other serious injuries, including those resulting in amputation, blindness and any other orthopaedic trauma.
My role is to seek to compensate our clients following a severe injury in order to place them, as far as is possible, back to the position they would have been in but for the incident. This includes seeking compensation for pain and suffering caused, loss of earnings, past and future care and assistance required, rehabilitation and much more, to provide the best quality of life possible following a life-changing injury.
What inspired you to get into law?
From a young age, I was fascinated by the idea of court rooms and judges and enjoyed debating controversial points at school.
From this, I researched careers in law and shadowed individuals in various legal roles and my interest in the legal profession grew.
I grew up in a family of various medical practitioners, so I wanted to find a way of combining my interest in law and medicine and the human body. This is led me to finding my career in Serious Injury.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is seeing our clients receiving treatment, aids and equipment and rehabilitation which we have been able to fund through the course of the claim.
Seeing the improvement in our clients' quality of life and their families, gives me a profound feeling of fulfilment and pride in my work.
