Katie Marlborough

Solicitor

Biography

I’ve worked for Irwin Mitchell for over 4 years, firstly as a paralegal and now as a Trainee Solicitor. I’m due to qualify in March 2018.

As a Paralegal and Trainee I’ve worked predominantly on high value disease cases, including ARD and non-malignant respiratory disease cases, such as occupational asthma.

I also have experience of Group Litigation, working alongside senior members of Irwin Mitchell on the coinciding “British Coal Coke Oven Workers Litigation” and “British Steel Coke Oven Workers Litigation”.

I also act on behalf of clients who’ve been subject to childhood abuse and sexual assault, which I find incredibly rewarding.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

I worked as a senior manager in retail for a number of years following university and found that it was always the legal part of my role that interested me the most. So I did a law conversion, got experience in a law firm and it all went from there!

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

The most rewarding aspect of my role is the real difference that we make to the lives of our clients.

Many of our clients come to us following life-changing events with catastrophic consequences. I enjoy helping them get justice for their injuries, which often aren’t their fault.

I also find it very rewarding to work alongside and learn from such hard-working and passionate lawyers and other professionals!

What Do You Do Away From The Office?

Away from the office I enjoy cooking, seeing friends and family, hiking and going to the gym!
