Biography
I am a Solicitor based in the Medical Negligence team in London. I represent patients and their families exclusively in medical negligence claims. I am an APIL accredited Litigator. I have also volunteered in the inquest team for a medical advice charity, Actions Against Medical Accidents (AvMA), the UK charity for patient safety and justice.
I have significant experience with a wide range of clinical negligence claims, and I have particular specialisms in the following areas:
- Gynaecology/obstetrics including cases involving children who have suffered injuries at birth – with particular expertise in cerebral palsy;
- Delays in cancer diagnosis/treatment;
- Neurosurgery;
- Amputations;
- Infections such as Meningitis and Sepsis;
- Orthopaedics and spinal injuries – particularly cauda equina syndrome
- Fatal cases. I have experience of inquests
I joined Irwin Mitchell in 2017, having qualified as a solicitor in 2016. I initially worked as a paralegal for the MDDUS (The Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland). I therefore have experience of both Defendant and Claimant work having exclusively acted for Claimants since qualification.
What Inspired You to Get Into Law?
I am from a medical family, and I’ve been exposed to medicine from a very young age. I developed an interest when studying law at university in the interaction between medicine and the law. I find the cases which can be both high value and complex, involving a number of experts very interesting.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Being able to help secure favourable settlements for clients who find themselves in emotionally difficult situations when dealing with life changing events.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell has an outstanding depth of expertise in the area of medical negligence. It is a top tier firm and ranks as a leading law firm in the market. It is a helpful, caring and compassionate firm which supports clients with their rehabilitation. We also offer support to families when going through the inquest, as well as help accessing rehabilitation and financial advice in the wake of medical negligence.
What do you do away from the office?
I have two young daughters who keep me busy outside of work. We are fortunate enough to live in the countryside, and I enjoy spending time outside and walking our very active cocker spaniel. I also enjoy visiting new places.

It has been an extremely complicated legal case during an incredibly traumatic for our family, but Richard and his team have been sensitive, considerate and kind as well as legally rigorous and professional. Richard and his team have secured Danny a settlement which gives us the most important thing in the world - peace of mind when it comes to his financial future…
…Thanks to Richard and his team, Danny's future can be so much better than it would have been. We will always be grateful for what they have done for us.” - 5* Trustpilot review
