Kate Nicklin

I am a solicitor working in the Serious Injury team, based in our Newcastle office.

Since 2008, I have worked as part of a team who act for both adults and children who have sustained serious injuries to obtain compensation. I specialise in acting on behalf of individuals who have sustained brain and/or spinal cord injuries.

At the earliest possible stage, I seek to secure interim payments for my clients. This funding is sought to fund rehabilitation and to implement packages of care to improve the lives of my clients.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

From an early age, I knew I wanted to be a lawyer. I wanted to help individuals and to make a difference to their lives. Working in the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell enables me to do this.

Each day, I work with individuals whose lives have been forever changed because of an injury they have sustained. I provide those individuals with straight forward legal advice and I obtain compensation to meet their significant needs arising from their injuries.

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

The most rewarding aspect of my role is obtaining a settlement, which provides my client with financial security for the future. Working in my role makes me realise that what we do at Irwin Mitchell makes a real difference to the lives of our clients.

Also, I work with a fantastic team of passionate lawyers who are dedicated to securing the best result for clients and to give them every opportunity to improve their quality of lives post-injury.

What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?

Irwin Mitchell is an innovative firm, which stands up for clients and is not afraid to take risks or to challenge the law.

Furthermore, the expertise at Irwin Mitchell is second to none. My clients have access to specialist lawyers practising in various areas of law including Family, Public, Court of Protection and Employment Law. This enables me to overcome difficulties, which may arise in litigation and to achieve the best outcome for the client.

Also, Irwin Mitchell prides itself on delivering excellent client care and I am proud to be a part of this.

What Do You Do Away From The Office?

I love spending time with my friends and family (in particular my four nephews). I also enjoy working with various charities in the community and I've recently completed the Coast to Coast cycle ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. I completed this venture over two days and in doing so raised funds for charity.
